Harris-Walz on Anti-Semitism and Israel
Combating Antisemitism and Hate:
Vice President Harris is a strong partner and ally of the Jewish community. She and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff played key roles in developing the first-ever National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism in U.S. history. As Vice President, she also supported increased funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to increase funding to help secure synagogues and Jewish institutions. In the Senate, she introduced and passed a bipartisan resolution to combat rising antisemitism and other hate crimes. Following anti-Israel protests as recently as July 2024, she reiterated: “Antisemitism, hate and violence of any kind have no place in our nation.”
In June 2023, speaking at the Israeli Independence Day celebration, Vice President Harris affirmed: “As I frequently have said and as our national strategy on antisemitism makes clear, when Jews are targeted because of their beliefs or identity, and when Israel is singled out because of anti-Jewish hatred, that is antisemitism, and that is unacceptable.”
Supporting the U.S.-Israel Relationship:
Throughout her career, Harris has demonstrated – in her own words and actions – an unwavering commitment to “the state of Israel, to its security, and to the people of Israel.” Harris travelled to Israel as a Senator to develop the U.S.-Israel partnership and The Biden-Harris administration has been steadfast in its efforts to support Israel diplomatically and militarily in the aftermath of October 7, tirelessly working for a return of all the hostages held by Hamas.
Harris played a critical role in the passage of $15 billion in emergency aid to Israel, calling congressional leaders to ensure it passed. In June, she convened a White House meeting on conflict-related sexual violence, shining a light on Hamas’s horrific acts of sexual violence on October 7. Harris has met and worked with Israeli leaders, including Prime Ministers Netanyahu and Lapid, President Herzog, and more, to support Israel’s security. Since October 7, Harris has joined more than 20 calls with Netanyahu and six with President Herzog.
